I’m having 3 days off in a row, today (Sunday), Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be working in Latest Recipe on Wednesday, which will be my last day and then I’m moving to Conservatory. It’s a lounge and bar with live entertainment, serves light snacks and innovative cocktails. Oh, and it’s just next to the lobby. Latest Recipe isn’t a very good place to work, if you asked me. It’s really tiring and every time I’m back home, I just wanna plonk my entire self on the bed. When I was working in the morning shift, I would reach home by 5pm and by 8.30pm, I’ll sleep till the next morning. Dog-tired kinda job. Frankly, all you ever do is carry this and that, follow orders, do this and that and etc. When I try to take orders, the staffs get pissed at me. I realize when I work, the guests like to talk to me. I don’t know why. I’ve got guests written many pleasant comments about me (they usually address me by ‘the Chinese waitress’) in the guest comment cards, I get along with all the guests so well and simply, I think guests just prefer someone who serves them with a smile- and that’s me! Everywhere I go, from the kitchen to the dining room, I’ll carry a smile on my face. When I talk to guests, I sincerely talk with a smile. And I noticed the other staffs don’t really smile while talking to guests, which I have no idea why. I’m not trying to outsmart them or show-off but we’re serving in a 5 star hotel, therefore, show some 5 star services and don’t serve glumly. No one likes it and you make people lose appetite seeing your lugubrious face! I may not have much experience as you guys have, but try putting yourself in the guests’ shoes. It’s pretty hard for me to get along with the rest of the staffs actually. I think the main factor is because I’m a Chinese. Wait… I’m the ONLY Chinese. And since I speak really atrocious Malay language, I sometimes speak English… which turns them off. Thank goodness, the only person whom I can trust and could communicate well is with Mr.Surinder. He’s the manager and he’s really kind. He said he’ll fill in the appraisal form personally for me (usually the asst.manager will do it). Hehehehe. Honestly, I really do prefer working in the evening shift though, where we serve buffet dinner. Reasons : 1) The staffs here are more mature compared to the morning crews 2) The staffs don’t push you around and mistreat u like their slave 3) They’re more understanding and caring 4) They’re more helpful and friendly 5) I get to eat the buffet in the Private Dining Room after work (I’ll whack all the oysters and mussels usually. Hehe) 6) Lesser work to do 7) More fun and friendly guests. 8) I get to take beverage orders 9) The captain, Izuan, is way better and he always ask me if I’m unsure of anything or would like to know anything 10) The waiter, Eidi, is simply so caring and fun to work with. Here are the pictures : (Yes, I still have time and remember to take pictures, despite being so busy. You know why? I said I have to take pictures and jot down notes for my report so I can escape a bit of workload.) Hehehehe.
